I am saddened and my world is smaller after learning of John's passing today. He brought many of us back together with his tireless work on this website and the 40th anniversary reunion.
To his family I send my deepest condolences. Be certain that John is in a better place as he earned his place in Valhalla with his never-ending love of family and friends.
To his friends and his extended Crossland 1971 family, I extend my thanks to him for helping me get in touch with so many of you and you to get in touch with so many of your friends after all these years. Without his efforts, that may have remained nothing more than a longing in our hearts.
To all: Please remember John in your thoughts and prayers.
May God bless him and all that knew him.

To Ginny and the Hayden Family - I am so deeply saddened to learn of John's passing. (Forgive me. Can't help calling him "Wayne.") My sincere condolences to Ginny and the Hayden family. It's seems only yesterday we shared classes at Crossland, and it was so good seeing him and others over the years and at our most recent 40th class reunion. John's "Wayne's" unparalleled enthusiasm and commitment to the Crossland '71 reunion events and Web Page is only surpassed by his humor and genuine good will. May all his good works along with your memories help sustain you during this most difficult time. I pray that you find some small measure of comfort in knowing that John "Wayne" will always be fondly remembered by so many. Peace be with you.

The loss of any life is a blow to humanity, the loss of someone that makes a difference in the life of others is a tragedy. Johns loss was one such event. I trust he is now in Jehovah's memory awaiting the resurrection in the last days to experience life again, this time free of pain and sorrow, under the care of our Lord Jesus.

John "Wayne" Hayden passed away on July 4, 2013. I knew John from our time together on CHS football team and he was always very positive and upbeat. After High School when we were putting together the Ryan P. McDonald Golf Benefit, John was very helpful in finding and getting classmates to participate. He took it upon himself to create the Crossland 71 website and pull together and organize the CHS 40th reunion in 2011. He did solicate a lot of old pictures and artifacts from his golf buddies.
John had a good sense of humor and loved getting in touch with CHS classmates. Even after he moved to North Carolina, he continued to be a part of the Ryan P. McDonald Golf outings. One year John and Ginny came all the way from North Carolina and stayed in a motel in Bowie, it rained and they never showed up (even though we still had the event). John was good classmate, teamate and person. He is surely missed.
